Czech Republic

Czech Republic have a very good record when it comes to qualifying for the European Championships (not always reflected for the World Cup) but their record once at the European Championships is very mixed, their best recent performance coming in 1996 when they were runners up to Germany and their worst recent performance being the group stage exits in 2000 and 2008.

Czech Republic don't quite have the individual stars they used to have but they remain a pretty solid outfit who will give any side a decent game but when it comes to facing the better teams they are likely to come up short.

Czech Republic To Be Eliminated At The Group Stage

Czech Republic are not a bad side but there should be at least two stronger teams in their group to make them a good enough bet to be eliminated at the group stage of Euro 2012. The fact that Czech Republic have done well at previous tournaments makes them quite a value price to be eliminated at the first hurdle but the fact that they failed to qualify for the most recent World Cup and struggled for qualification to these finals suggests they are not the force of old.

The Czech Republic did well to bounce back from the disappointment of not qualifying for the last World Cup by gaining a place at Euro 2012, even if it did require two playoff matches to get there. Czech Republic faced a tall task to finish above Spain and to gain automatic qualification so the runners up spot was always going to be their aim and they eventually finished two points ahead of Scotland. Czech Republic lost three of their matches and although two of those losses came against Spain, they will still have to perform better at the finals to qualify from their group.

Czech Republic Player's Goal Stats

Here are the most important goal stats from Czech Republic's Euro 2012 qualifying group. Use these to pick the best goalscorer bets on Czech Republic's games at Euro 2012.

Player Games (Sub) Goals Games Scored In First Goals Last Goals Hat Tricks Pens Scored
Michal Kadlec 10 3 1 3 0 3
Jan Rezek 4 (1) 2 1 0 0 0 0
Jaroslav Plasil 9 2 2 1 0 0 0

*All stats reflect bookies rules for own goals and 90 mins play in their respective markets. Seven other Czech Republic players scored a single goal in qualification.

Michal Kadlec was a surprise top scorer for Czech Republic during qualifying, his record boosted massively by taking and scoring three penalties but they all count for betting purposes and with the defender likely to take penalties once again at Euro 2012 he will continue to be a threat in the goalscorer betting and more often than not a value price. Kadlec also had a good record of scoring the last goal, in all three games that he scored in he got the last goal of the game.

Jan Rezek had a good goals to game ratio but both his goals came in one match whereas Jarslav Plasil's two goals came in two different matches. Plasil is a midfielder by trade and having scored in almost a quarter of his qualifying matches he could be a bit of value in the anytime goalscorer market during the group games at Euro 2012.

Czech Republic Players' Disciplinary Stats

Check out Czech Republic's yellow and red card stats below to help highlight the best bets in the cards markets for Czech Republic's Euro 2012 matches.

Player Games (Sub) Yellow Cards First Yellow Card Of Game Red Cards
Roman Hubnik 9 1 0 1
Tomas Hubschman 7 1 0 1
Jan Rezek 4 (1) 3 0 0
Jaroslav Plasil 9 2 0 0
Milan Baros 6 (1) 2 0 0
Zdenek Pospech 5 (3) 1 0 0
Jiri Stajner 0 (2) 1 0
Petr Jiracek 5 1 0 0
Thomas Pekhart 2 (3) 1 0 0
Vaclav Pillar 3 1 0 0
Tomas Sivok 7 1 0 0
Tomas Necid 2 (3) 1 0 0

Czech Republic didn't have the best disciplinary record during Euro 2012 qualifying, they picked up sixteen yellow cards and two straight red cards in just ten games. Amazingly not one of Czech Republic's yellow cards came as the first yellow card of the game.

The two players who were sent off for Czech Republic were Roman Hubnik and Tomas Hubschman and both players also picked up one yellow card during qualification as well. Tomas Hubschman appeals slightly more out of the two to get in trouble at Euro 2012 considering he played less games than Roman Hubnik.

Three players picked up more than one yellow card during qualifying, the worst offender was also the player out of the three to play least games and that was Jan Rezek. From just four starts and one sub appearance he managed to be booked three times, suggesting he is a player to look out for in the bookings markets at Euro 2012. Jaroslav Plasil and Milan Baros both picked up two bookings each.

Czech Republic qualified for Euro 2012 with one of the worst goal differences out of all the qualifiers having finished the group with a positive goal difference of just four goals. They then scored three goals without replay in their playoff. There was little difference between their first half and second half displays overall, they scored almost the same amount of goals, kept the same amount of first half clean sheets as second half clean sheets and scored the same amount of first goals as last goals.

What does standout though is the fact that they rarely seemed to turn up for both halves of their matches. Not only did Czech Republic win both halves of just one of their matches, they actually only scored in both halves of two of their matches. Since they only failed to score twice you should expect Czech Republic to score in the second half if they didn't score in the first half but to fail to score in the second half if they did score in the first half. There were also only three games where both teams scored which suggests there will often be a clean sheet kept by one of the sides in Czech Republic matches at Euro 2012.

Czech Republic Recent European Championships Performances

Year Team Performance
2008 Eliminated Third In Group
2004 Eliminated In Semi Final
2000 Eliminated Third In Group
1996 Runners Up

Czech Republic have a good record at the European Championships considering their size, they went close to winning in 1996 when taking the lead in the final against Germany but the Germans eventually won that game in extra time. Czech Republic then reached the semi final in 2004 which was another great achievement but the two European Championships either side of that were not so successful, Czech Republic came third in the group and were eliminated in both those tournaments.
