Group B has already been named Euro 2012's Group of Death as it contains three of the favourites to win the entire tournament (Germany, Holland and Portugal). The other team in the group is Denmark, who finished above Portugal in qualifying, so all four teams are sides to be reckoned with.
The opening Group B fixtures at Euro 2012 will take place on June 9th.

Holland may have got further than Germany at the World Cup but it is worth noting that both teams, as well as Portugal, were all eliminated by Spain at that tournament so the relative merits of each team at the most recent major tournament may not decide this. Germany it seems are only beatable by Spain who have knocked them out of the last two major tournaments and Germany won every single match in qualifying which suggests they are rightful favourites to win this group.
Holland are capable of pushing Germany very close as the bookies make them the third best team in the entire tournament but Germany are just about fancied to have the edge based on the fact that Spain are their real bogey team.
Holland should be clear second best in Group B. Portugal and Denmark are closely matched on qualifying form but Portugal finished three points behind Denmark in qualifying and lost a quarter of their matches. They then required the playoffs to qualify here and in their last two major tournaments they haven't made it past the first knockout round so perhaps they just aren't that great. Denmark are a decent side, they obviously won their qualification group but they finished behind Japan in their most recent World Cup group whilst Germany and Holland went on to reach the semi finals and final respectively so the chances of Denmark finishing above either Germany or Holland seem fairly slim. Holland could be more likely to win the group than to finish outside of the first two and that makes them a good bet to qualify.
The bookies think the most likely outcome in the straight forecast market is Germany/Holland and whilst we agree it may not be a good idea to get too involved in this market considering the bookies make it the favourite. It is only the fact that it is such a competitive group that makes this bet slight value and as a result a small bet should be had on Germany winning the group and Holland finishing runners up.
