Euro 2008 Group Odds and BettingHere we look at the group odds and betting for Euro 2008.
Euro 2008 Group A OddsGroup A contains Portugal, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Turkey.
To Win Group A
Portugal should have more than enough quality to ensure they win this group. They have more than just a couple of match winners and Czech Republic are probably the only team good enough to give them a tough game. Portugal are a confident selection to win Group A.

To Qualify From Group A
With Turkey a poor side away from home soil this looks between Czech Republic and Switzerland. Czech Republic are obviously the better side but Switzerland do have home advantage which can make a massive difference. It is very rare for the host nations not to qualify from their group and with the added bonus of Switzerland being a bigger price than Czech Republic a bet on Switzerland to qualify from Group A is the best bet in this market.
Euro 2008 Group B OddsGroup B contains Germany, Croatia, Poland and Austria.
To Win Group B
Another market that looks fairly straight forward. It would be a bit of a shock if Germany even dropped as point in this group, nevermind not qualifying as winners. Croatia may be a bit out of their comfort zone and are missing their star striker whilst Poland and Austria are the tournament outsiders so it should be straight forward for Germany to win Group B.
To Qualify From Group B
This looks fairly tight between all three sides, Croatia, Poland and Austria. Croatia probably have the better squad but Austria have home advantage. At the prices it makes sense to risk Austria getting a couple of results and qualifying as there is not much value in backing Croatia to finish runners up in Group B.
Euro 2008 Group C OddsGroup C contains Italy, France, Holland and Romania.
To Win Group C
At least three sides have a chance in this market and it is also feasible that Romania could top the group, they are very under rated. Italy are the most consistent of the teams in the group and their style of football works well in major tournaments. It is a bit of a risk but Italy should be able to win Group C.
To Qualify From Group C
A tough one to call. France might be worth taking on as they are unproven in this sort of competition without Zinedine Zidane pulling the strings and Thierry Henry doesn’t look in the best of form. Strictly speaking Romania are the best value as they finished above Holland in qualifying but Holland have some very good players and they can secure the runners up spot in Group C.

Euro 2008 Group D OddsGroup D contains Spain, Greece, Sweden, Russia.
To Win Group D
Spain look set for a very good tournament and this is possibly the weakest group at Euro 08. Greece are a decent, well organised side but lack the class of Spain, Sweden have some good players but have already finished behind Spain in qualifying and Russia are much better at hoe and should struggle in this tournament. Spain are a confident tip to win Group D.

To Qualify From Group D
This looks between Greece and Sweden and could definitely go either way. The game between the two sides will probably decide it and if the game is anything but a draw the winners will surely go through. Greece didn’t qualify for the 2006 World Cup and qualified from what might have been the weakest qualification group so Sweden should be chanced to qualify from Group D. |
