Chances Of Qualification For The European Championships

Malta are often the minnows of their qualification group and as a result of the country's size they have very few professional players making qualification for the major tournaments almost impossible. It seems a great achievement that in 1994 they were ranked 66 in the FIFA rankings but since then they have slipped almost 100 places in the FIFA rankings and they look likely to continue finishing bottom of their qualifying groups for the forseeable future.
