Poland go to Euro 2012 as joint hosts and as a result they will have qualified automatically for the tournament. Many would think the only way they would have qualifed for this is as hosts but they did manage to qualify for Euro 2008 and perhaps won't be as bad as many expect, especially with home advantage on their side.
Poland still need to make plenty of improvements in preparation for Euro 2012 as they have consistently proved that they probably aren't one of the best sixteen teams in Europe and a good showing at Euro 2012 will probably mean they only finish third in the group and still fail to qualify for the knockout rounds.
Poland have home advantage but home advantage has not always worked so brilliantly for the smaller nations, both Austria and Switzerland were knocked out at the group stage whilst in 2000 Belgium, who were co hosts with Holland, failed to qualify from their group as well. Poland don't look one of the better two teams in a group that contains Russia, Greece and Czech Republic and Poland look to have been overestimated by the bookies based on home advantage considering they finished bottom of their group four years ago.
Home advantage is better than no home advantage though and that might just make the difference between Poland finishing bottom and finishing third. Poland only finished bottom of their group four years ago on goal difference and Czech Republic may be most at risk from the Group A teams of finishing below Poland as Czech Republic seem on the downgrade recently after failing to qualify for the World Cup and requiring the playoffs to qualify for Euro 2012.

Poland have been struggling to qualify for the European Championships for many years although they did manage an appearance in 2008 at the finals in 2008. That ended with Poland earning just one point in their group and eventually they finished bottom. Slightly better may be expected in 2008 with home advantage but it will still take a huge effort to qualify from their group.
