Spread Betting

What is Spread Betting?

Spread betting is an exciting alternative to regular fixed odds betting that allows punters to make profitable use of good judgement and specialised knowledge.

In regular betting you are either right or wrong. Your bet either wins or loses. In spread betting you must decide whether an outcome is going to be under or over the margin that bookmakers predict. That margin is known as the spread. The more that you are right about your prediction, the more you will win.

If you think the outcome is going to be lower than the margin then you must ‘sell’ the market and if you think the outcome is going to be over the spread then you must ‘buy’ the market.

Advantages of Spread Betting

The more you are correct the more you win – Most markets will return close to the spread but there are plenty where the result is very different to the spread. It is these results that can produce large profits for the punter.

Bets can be closed early to guarantee profit – You don’t need to wait until the end of an event to cash out your bet on spread betting. The markets are all ‘in play’ and you can close your bets before the end of the event at the current spread being offered.

Spread betting gives more choice – In regular betting you back a positive outcome but in spread betting you can back teams or individuals to under perform as well as over perform.

Spread betting offers innovative markets – There are many different markets available within spread betting and they can give punters who have specialist interests within sports opportunities to gain an edge.

Large free bets available – Some of the biggest free bets in the betting industry can be found at spread betting firms.
